Flat Stanley meets another Auntie.

On Monday, Riley's Auntie Therese stopped by our house. Kai had stopped playing with some train tracks that Riley had passed on to us and we thought it would be a good idea to pass them on to Riley's other cousin, Rhett. They took a look at our garden, met Flat Stanley and then loaded up the trains.

Flat Stanley Weathers the Storm.

Yesterday started out as a really nice day. We all took a walk downtown to the coffee shop and then to do a little shopping. We intended to stop at a playground on the way home, but a big storm was rolling in. On our walk back home a big wind came up and blew Flat Stanley out of the stroller and into the street. It was lucky that there was a stop light for traffic and I was able to grab him before he met any harm or got blown farther away. Just shortly after we arrived home, the tornado sirens sounded and we all went to the basement to wait for the storm to pass. Thankfully, there was just a short hail storm and then the weather passed and the sun came back for awhile.

Flat Stanley and Kai thought that these shoes would be an excellent choice.

Storm clouds gathering to the north of our home.
As you can see, Flat Stanley wasn't worried at all.

In the basement, checking the weather after the sirens went off.

Flat Stanley and the hail in our driveway!
It was about the size of regular marbles with some shooter marbles size too.

Rainy Day.

It was a rather gloomy and rainy day here in Wisconsin, so we stuck close to home. In the morning, we had friends stop by for a playdate. Flat Stanley got in on some action with a aircraft carrier in the hallway upstairs:

And also some pirate play downstairs:

After our friends went home, it was time for lunch. We decided to have snacks for lunch today and Flat Stanley was able to try red beet eggs that our friends had generously shared with us. Our friends also used to live in Pennsylvania, where this is a pretty common food. They are pickled and a just little bit sweet. We also had peanuts, hummus and chips, deviled eggs, ham with crackers and pretzels with mustard.

After lunch we all snuggled up under a blanket to watch a movie called Five Children and It as it continued to rain.

We thought about taking a rain walk to stomp in puddles but decided that we didn't feel much like getting all wet. Then, later in the afternoon our family friends, Nick and Genelle, stopped by for a visit and dinner:

We're hoping to have nice weather tomorrow because we hope to take a bike ride to the library and children's museum. So far, it looks clear for tomorrow afternoon!

Flat Stanley Tries Fresh Radishes

Today Flat Stanley helped to harvest the first vegetables from our garden: radishes! He likes them with salt. We went to the park for a picnic and to play with some friends from the neighborhood, but Flat Stanley decided to stay back at the house and do a little reading.

Flat Stanley's First Day in Wisconsin

Yesterday, Flat Stanley arrived in an envelope in our mail box.

First he took a tour of our vegetable garden:

And then he shared a chocolate almond milk popsicle:

Then we all went for a walk before dinner:

We were sure to pack binoculars and identification guides for birds and plants
because there is lots to see by the river.

We took a break by the edge of the river to check out the water.
It is fast and high after a long, snowy summer and a wet spring.
